The beauty of the Hawaiian quilt is honored in this first made-to-order offering. Western forms of sewing were introduced to Hawaii around the 1820s, and with it the art of patchwork quilting. Native women tailored their new skill to reflect symbols of their past in a language that threaded who they are into this new form of sewing as they adapted to the great changes happening around them.
Featuring a color block appliqué of Ulu at the neckline. Ari pauses the quick pace of garment manufacturing to hand place and skillfully edgestitch each design, adding hand made luxury to a favorite silhouette.
